What is measured
This test will precisely measure your Total Vitamin D, 25-hydroxy D2 and D3 Levels. This test is vital when assessing your bone health and its potential impact on conditions like osteoporosis, cancer, and diabetes.

What is 25-hydroxy D2 & D3?
25-hydroxy D2 is a form of Vitamin D that comes from plant sources or fortified foods. When you consume vitamin D2, your body converts it into 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 so it can be measured in your blood.

25-hydroxy D3 is a form of Vitamin D that your body makes naturally when your skin is exposed to sunlight. It can also come from animal-based foods like fish or fortified foods. Much like D2, D3 is converted in the body to a form that can measured in the blood.

Most people have no symptoms and are not aware they have a Vitamin D deficiency.

Symptoms include:

  • Muscle pain
  • Bone pain
  • Increased sensitivity to pain
  • A tingly ‘pins-and-needles’ sensation in the hands or feet
  • Muscle spasms
  • History of broken bones

If you believe you are experiencing severe, unusual, or worsening symptoms, please contact your health care provider immediately.

Vitamin D is crucial for bone strength and may have implications on other medical conditions including osteoporosis, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

What is measured

This test will measure your Vitamin D levels, both total as well as 25-hydroxy D2 and D3. Vitamin D2 and D3 are metabolized in the liver and kidney to the metabolically active 1α, 25-dihydroxy vitamin D, which acts in the body through specialized vitamin D receptors (VDRs). Vitamin D regulates bone metabolism, the immune system, and inflammatory responses.
This test will measure your Vitamin D levels from the ranges of deficient to potential toxicity.
